Blockchain technologie in het onderwijs

“In het verleden behaalde resultaten bieden geen garantie voor de toekomst”. Een veel gebruikte uitspraak. En natuurlijk niet zonder reden. Maar voor scholieren, studenten, sollicitanten, werknemers en natuurlijk potentiële werkgevers is het echter wel van groot belang dat de in het verleden behaalde resultaten op een verifieerbare manier worden vastgelegd. Blockchain technologie gaat het onderwijs veranderen.

In het onderwijs zijn veel processen gebaseerd op het uitwisselen van gegevens. Behaalde diploma’s en certificaten van vooropleidingen worden administratief overgedragen tussen opleidingsinstituten.

Diploma’s en certificaten worden aangeboden bij sollicitaties en werkgevers moeten deze kunnen toetsen op geldigheid. Allemaal scenario’s waarbij blockchain technologie de processen kan vereenvoudigen en de betrouwbaarheid van de gegevens en behaalde resultaten kan garanderen.

DecenterX

DecenterX is in de afgelopen maanden met partijen in het onderwijs gestart om certificaten en diploma’s in de blockchain te registreren, zodat betrokken partijen kunnen verzekeren dat met het diploma niet is gefraudeerd.

Het wordt digitaal, niet te wijzigen en voor altijd opgeslagen in een distributed ledger die op verzoek van de eigenaar wordt gedeeld. Want uiteraard blijft een student eigenaar van zijn of haar behaalde resultaten en bepaalt de student wanneer een derde deze in kan zien. Maar discussie over het bestaan of de echtheid behoort tot het verleden!

Tevens zijn werken we aan een betrouwbaar en eenvoudig systeem waarmee het portfolio van een student van de ene school naar de andere school kan worden getransporteerd.

Hiermee wordt veel tijd en geld bespaart en is de kans op verlies vrijwel uitgesloten. In de nabije toekomst kunnen we met blockchain technologie ook eenvoudig vraag en aanbod van kennis uitwisselen.

In de meest ideale situatie kunnen gevolgde colleges en behaalde tentamens worden geregistreerd en via smart contracts automatisch worden gecombineerd tot een diploma ‘nieuwe stijl’.

Staan we daar ver vanaf?

We geloven van niet. Het onderwijs gaat hoe dan ook veranderen door blockchain oplossingen en dit gaat misschien wel sneller dan we denken.
